[failproofai-legion-904] Clear the fixable Dependabot alerts: mcp in the SDK lock, sprintf-js in two fixtures - #904
Conversation
…the SDK lock, sprintf-js in two fixtures Three of the 12 open Dependabot alerts have a fix that keeps every pin: - sdk/python/uv.lock: mcp 1.28.1 -> 1.30.0 (GHSA-84m7-p3x7-pcfv, alert #60), the finding that has had the Supply Chain gate red on main since today's scheduled scan. crewai 1.15.27 (and 1.15.28) pin `mcp~=1.28.1`, so the fix is a `[tool.uv] override-dependencies` entry. uv reads it only when resolving uv.lock; the built package's metadata does not change. The lock moves mcp and nothing else and stays at revision 5 (written with uv 0.13.1; an older uv rewrites it to revision 3). - nextjs and mastra-1 fixtures: sprintf-js 1.0.3 removed (GHSA-hp3w-g68c-fv3c, alerts #50 and #52). No sprintf-js release fixes it. The only path is @mastra/core -> gray-matter -> js-yaml@3.15.2 -> argparse@1.0.10, and js-yaml 3 requires argparse from bin/js-yaml.js alone. A fixture-local `"argparse": "2.0.1"` override (no dependencies) drops it; each lockfile changes by those two entries only. Verified locally: OSV-Scanner with the gate's image and args reports no issues; npm audit on both fixtures reports 0; the mastra integration suites (mastra-0, mastra-1) and the nextjs shard pass; the Python adapter suite with every extra passes, as does the SDK suite on 3.10 and 3.14. The other nine alerts have no fix that keeps the fixtures: chromadb x4 and nltk (no patched release exists; ignored in osv-scanner.toml until 2026-11-20), and ai plus @ai-sdk/provider-utils in ai-4 and mastra-0 (accepted in SECURITY.md). Clears the three open Dependabot alerts that have a fix, including the
mcpfinding that has hadmain's Supply Chain (OSV-Scanner) gate red since today's scheduled scan. Every framework pin stays where it is.What changes
sdk/python/uv.lockmcp1.28.1 → 1.30.0 (GHSA-84m7-p3x7-pcfv)sdk/typescript/integration/fixtures/nextjssprintf-jsremoved (GHSA-hp3w-g68c-fv3c)sdk/typescript/integration/fixtures/mastra-1sprintf-jsremoved (GHSA-hp3w-g68c-fv3c)mcp: a uv override, because crewai pins it. crewai 1.15.27 (and 1.15.28, the newest release) requiresmcp~=1.28.1, and the fix is 1.30.0, so no in-range update reaches it.sdk/python/pyproject.tomlgets[tool.uv] override-dependencies = ["mcp>=1.30.0,<2"], the uv equivalent of an npmoverridesentry. uv reads it only when it resolvesuv.lock; it is not package metadata, sopip install failproofai-sdk[crewai]is unaffected. The ceiling keeps crewai on the 1.x API it is written against. A comment says to delete it once crewai allows 1.30. mcp 1.30.0 declares the same requirements as 1.28.1, so the lock movesmcpand nothing else. The lock was written with uv 0.13.1 and stays atrevision = 5(an older uv rewrites it to revision 3).sprintf-js: anargparseoverride, because there is no fixedsprintf-js. Every release through 1.1.3 is affected and none fixes it, so the fix is to take it out of the tree. Both fixtures reached it only through@mastra/core@1.68.0→gray-matter@4.0.3→js-yaml@3.15.2→argparse@1.0.10→sprintf-js@1.0.3. js-yaml 3 requiresargparseonly inbin/js-yaml.js, its CLI, and never in the librarygray-mattercalls. A fixture-local"argparse": "2.0.1"override (2.x has no dependencies) drops it. Each lockfile changes by those two entries only. Movingjs-yamlto 4.x instead would breakgray-matter, which callssafeLoad/safeDump, both removed in js-yaml 4.The other nine alerts
None has a fix that keeps the fixtures, and each is already justified in the repo. This PR changes nothing for them. They are dismissed on GitHub as tolerable risk, each with a comment pointing at its justification:

Every CrewAI release the extra allows (1.13.0 through 1.15.28, 38 releases) pinsmcp~=1.26.0ormcp~=1.28.1.
