Lane of the 2.0 release work: a package pilot — the repository's own tests, run against the packages published on nuget.org.

  • .pilot/ (not in the main solution, so the normal build and CI never touch it) has one project per test project. Each links the original test sources with wildcards and references the package instead of the project, so a new test is in the pilot the moment it is in the repository.
  • The pilot projects keep the original assembly names, so the InternalsVisibleTo the published libraries carry still applies.
  • The version under test is one PilotVersion property in .pilot/Directory.Packages.props; restore reads nuget.org only.
  • .pilot/README.md explains why it exists, how to run it (also for an older version), and what a red pilot with a green source run means.

Run against Observer + .Http 2.0.0-beta.1: 988/988 on net8.0 and net10.0, identical to the source run; no test excluded. Sibling: DragoAnt/Observer, branch feat/r1-package-pilot.

- Add a package pilot that runs the tests on nuget.org
- Document the package pilot for maintainers
