I was going to remove the atom.xml file in favor of using the jekyll-feed plugin, but there is a bug stopping it from displaying authors correctly. I made a pull request with updated tests. Once the gem has been released with the fix and the github-pages gem has updated its dependency, I'll need to switch over to it.
