A handy monitoring check would be the ability for Candlestack to configure Nagios such that it routinely checks to see if operational logs for a service is showing up regularly in Elasticsearch. Most components nowadays have a very robust logging output where it would be unusual to go X number of minutes without seeing a log showing up in Elasticsearch. To that end adding a monitoring check to ensure a steady flow of logs are appearing could be used to detect potential issues with the service or logging infrastructure.
