Summary

Code2Test grew out of CodeWiki, a documentation generator. This PR removes what was left of that product and makes the docs and CLI help match the code. The test-generation pipeline is unchanged.

Removed (CodeWiki documentation generator, unused by test generation)

  • DEVELOPMENT.md, index.html (CodeWiki's landing page) and docker/ (built CodeWiki's web app from a codewiki/ folder that no longer exists).
  • The generate command, config agent, the documentation backend (agent orchestrator, agent tools, clustering, prompt templates, LLM services), the FastAPI web app, their CLI helpers, and requirements.txt.
  • Nine dependencies nothing imports (GitPython, litellm, requests, networkx, psutil, PyYAML, prompt-toolkit, pydantic-settings, tree-sitter-language-pack).

Kept: the dependency analyzer, the whole pipeline, and the pytest/Jest/JUnit adapters and test templates (post-v1 plans).

Changed

  • config holds only the API key and model; old config files still load. config validate resolves the model like code2test test and sends it one test request.
  • No more "not fully configured" warning when a model is set; a message when falling back to the default model (tests added).
  • pyproject: adds the missing code2test.adapters.java/.javascript packages (a non-editable install could not import code2test.adapters), corrected description and URLs.
  • LICENSE: MIT, keeping CodeWiki's copyright notice for the derived analyzer.

Docs: README command table and model notes, Development section; architecture.md (temp-dir pytest, whole-suite benchmark, prompt rules); task.md rewritten as an accurate status; proposal.md marked as the original proposal; quickstart output; CI examples that install Code2Test, pass a key and run verify; CLI help says Python only and Code2Test.

Verification

  • pytest: 113 passed.
  • Exact regression check: the four previous generated suites (inflection and TinyDB, MiniMax Flash and M3), re-verified and re-benchmarked with this code, give identical results: same verify counts, same mutants killed (whole suite and own tests), identical survivor lists.
  • Fresh runs of all four configurations with this code: same components and identical static intents; model-dependent metrics within run-to-run variation, all MVP targets met:
inflection, Flash inflection, M3 TinyDB, Flash TinyDB, M3
Components with passing tests 100% 100% 100% 96%
Passing before repair 84% 99% 84% 95%
Mutation score 60% 73% 84% 76%
Diagnosis accuracy 100% 97% 97% 100%

One fresh run (inflection, M3) kept a test as a suspected bug: singularize("campuses") returns "campuse" in inflection 0.5.1. That is a real incorrect output, not a false alarm.

All three described CodeWiki, the documentation generator Code2Test's
dependency analyzer comes from: DEVELOPMENT.md documented CodeWiki's
layout and `codewiki generate`, index.html was CodeWiki's landing page,
and docker/ built CodeWiki's web app from a `codewiki/` directory that
no longer exists, so it could not build. Nothing referenced them. The
contributor notes now live in the README's Development section.

- README: command table matches the CLI (init, version, legacy generate),
a saved API key overrides OPENAI_API_KEY, Development section replaces
DEVELOPMENT.md, init's config.json listed with what reads it.
- architecture.md: pytest runs from a temporary directory, the benchmark
runs the whole suite per mutant, prompt rules, --auto skips and reuse.
- task.md: rewritten as an accurate status: what v1 does, what exists but
is unused, what is not done (coverage and Markdown reports, incremental
  generation, config.json settings).
- proposal.md marked as the original proposal; quickstart sample output
matches the run summary; CI examples install Code2Test from GitHub,
pass the model key and run `code2test verify`.
- CLI help and messages: Python-only description, Code2Test and
`code2test` instead of CodeWiki and `codewiki`, which config options
Code2Test uses, report coverage marked unimplemented, init points to
`code2test test`, --framework says only pytest is generated.
- resolve_model no longer warns "not fully configured" when a model is
set; it says when it falls back to the default model. Tests added.
- pyproject description and URLs; paper no longer hard-codes the
  tool's test count.

Code2Test grew out of CodeWiki. Its dependency analyzer stays; the
documentation generator it also carried is removed, as nothing in test
generation used it:

- the `generate` command and `config agent`, with their helpers
(doc generator adapter, HTML/GitHub Pages generator, git manager, job
model, progress, instructions, repo validator, API error messages)
- the documentation backend (agent orchestrator, agent tools, module
clustering, prompt templates, LLM services) and the FastAPI web app
- requirements.txt, a pinned CodeWiki environment nothing referenced

`config` now holds only what Code2Test uses: the API key (keychain) and
the main model. Older config files still load. `config validate`
resolves the model as `code2test test` does and sends it one test
request (skipped with --quick). Saved settings keep their location.

pyproject: drop dependencies nothing imports (GitPython, litellm,
requests, networkx, psutil, PyYAML, prompt-toolkit, pydantic-settings,
tree-sitter-language-pack); add the missing code2test.adapters.java and
.javascript packages, without which a non-editable install could not
import code2test.adapters.

Unchanged: the pipeline, the dependency analyzer, the adapters and test
templates for other languages (post-v1 plans).

The README and pyproject already declared MIT but the repository had no
license file. The dependency analyzer is derived from CodeWiki (MIT,
Copyright (c) 2025 FSoft-AI4Code), whose notice the MIT terms require
to be kept.
