Play. Download Chupathingy for your platform and point it at your own copy of the game: an Xbox disc image, the Halo PC CD or the Custom Edition installer. It sets itself up on the first start. Then open Multiplayer, Online Games, and join in: our own servers run around the clock, alongside the community's.
What you get. Xbox maps, Halo PC and Custom Edition maps (downloaded for you when a game needs one), text chat, the Xbox-style menus with modern extras, controller layouts including Bumper Jumper, high-res HUD art, and dedicated servers anyone can run. Your games, medals and service record show up on the site.

Chupathingy is a port of the Halo: Combat Evolved decompilation project. It started as a fork of OpenCE, and it still plays with OpenCE players when the network versions match. Chupathingy's own code is GPL-3.0-or-later from October 16, 2026; everything before that, and the decompilation, stays CC0.
Bug reports, ideas, maps, mods and pull requests are all welcome. Start on the Discord or in the game's issues.
Support the servers. Chupathingy is free and always will be. Support through Ko-fi goes to running the site and the servers. If there's a specific developer or port you'd like to support, ask them: they may not be part of our community.
