remove_from_index functionality

[adi7820]

Hey Team,
Can I expect removal of index functionality any time soon?
I'm really in need of this.

I'd say this is medium priority at the moment. No particularly tough to add so it'd be a very welcome contribution, but there are a few things I need to get to beforehand. Tagging as help wanted for now!
