Compatible pre-1.0 patch release: adoption polish, the documentation site, and correctness and CI hardening after 0.4.0. No new public API or JSON-contract compatibility boundary. Released 2026-08-07. All 34 tracked issues resolved.

  • Documentation site & namespace (#108, #109): MkDocs site with strict documentation checks and GitHub Pages deployment; importable, intentionally empty base_cli.experimental namespace for future preview APIs.
  • Metadata & positioning (#103, #114, #116): Beta development-status classifier reflecting the API stability policy; README version/license/install/release-notes strip validated against the version contract; README health and support badges.
  • Typer compatibility (#105, #107): Typer 0.27.x support by selecting the command tree's matching public or vendored Click dialect across Python 3.10-3.14; documented opaque Context.user_config boundary.
  • API surface (#102, #106, #110): defined the testing module's public exports (all); resolved the base_cli.logging / stdlib logging name-shadow concern; documented the asymmetric module-level-command vs subcommand surface.
  • Documentation coverage (#104, #125, #126, #128, #129, #130, #131, #133, #136, #137, #138): minimal top-of-README example; inspection envelopes, delegated display labels, EnvironmentConfigLoader, typed user config, TyperAdapter.command, contributor setup, self-contained docs index; CHANGELOG structure and stale-reference fixes; internal planning text removed from consumer docs.
  • Quality gates (#127, #132, #134, #135, #142, #143): CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md; [tool.mypy] config with package-level strict typing in CI; expanded Ruff rules (I/B/UP) and full format surface across package and tests.
  • Correctness fixes (#139, #141, #144, #145, #146): single-envelope JSON capture when JSON mode arrives via Click default_map or combined short flags; a real interpolated p95 in the runtime benchmark instead of the max under two names; one shared history display-command resolver; Unicode digit-like input rejected with the friendly positive-integer error; every first-seen document column preserved for heterogeneous records.
  • Security (#140): home-relative paths compacted in diagnostic run.json and identity.json metadata so retained support bundles disclose less local path information.
  • Release (#170): base-cli 0.4.1.
