From be5b58c2e91af297dc933e5608264babd2ff17c5 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Rick van de Loo Date: Thu, 23 Apr 2020 17:07:08 +0200 Subject: [PATCH] Add Debian Buster image doc We're working on updating the Hypernode platform from Ubuntu Xenial to Debian Buster. We're publishing Docker images for Buster which can already be used for testing. New in Buster is that we'll also have images for specific configurations so a different version of MySQL than the default does not have to be manually installed. --- README.md | 29 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++- 1 file changed, 28 insertions(+), 1 deletion(-) diff --git a/README.md b/README.md index b238d80..cda188c 100644 --- a/README.md +++ b/README.md @@ -8,7 +8,34 @@ The `hypernode-docker` image has SSH, PHP, NGINX, MySQL, Redis and Varnish. The ## Usage -### Starting the Docker and logging in +### The new Debian Buster hypernode-docker [BETA] + +We're in the process of upgrading the Hypernode platform from [Ubuntu Xenial](https://wiki.ubuntu.com/XenialXerus/ReleaseNotes) to [Debian Buster](https://www.debian.org/releases/buster/). For testing and development we have already made a new container based on this new operating system available. Note that in production the OS will still be Ubuntu Xenial until further notice. **If you want to test with Debian Buster on a real Hypernode already, you can contact our support and we'll see if we can provide you with a (free) node in this testing phase.** + +The Debian Buster Hypernode will contain the same functionality as the Ubuntu Xenial Hypernode except that it runs on a newer operating system. This means that some software will be a newer version than before. Most software that is relevant for the applications people generally run on a Hypernode we have retained to a compatible version, for example PHP 5.6 is (for now) still available. + +``` +docker pull docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker:latest +docker run docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker:latest +``` + +Now with the introduction of Debian Buster we have also made it so that for some of the possible configurations we have provided a pre-built image so it is not necessary anymore to [manually install a different MySQL](https://github.com/ByteInternet/hypernode-docker/issues/33) for example than what would be in the default box. + +These are the URLs of the containers with specific configurations: +``` +docker pull docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker-php56-mysql56:latest +docker pull docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker-php70-mysql56:latest +docker pull docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker-php71-mysql56:latest +docker pull docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker-php72-mysql56:latest +docker pull docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker-php73-mysql56:latest +docker pull docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker-php56-mysql57:latest +docker pull docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker-php70-mysql57:latest +docker pull docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker-php71-mysql57:latest +docker pull docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker-php72-mysql57:latest +docker pull docker.hypernode.com/byteinternet/hypernode-buster-docker-php73-mysql57:latest +``` + +### Starting the Ubuntu Xenial Docker and logging in Starting the container ```bash
